Hello,

My family and I will be in Japan from June 2 to June 5.

Here's our itinerary:

June 2 - arrive in Narita, Japan
June 3 - Puroland from Narita, end of day travel to Tokyo, stay in Tokyo
June 4 - Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo, stay in Tokyo
June 5 - Go back to Narita for departure

Is it advisable to get the JR Pass.

Thanks,
Gale

Hello Gale,

I checked your itinerary for the best option and I think that ti would be best to buy normal tickets as you travel. The JR Pass can be a great help if you travel between different regions in Japan. Both Puroland and Fuji are however close the Fuji.

Have a good time together in Japan!

Daniel-san:

Thank you for your quick response.

Are the tickets one-way or round-trip?

We are looking forward to enjoying our Japan trip.

Hi Gale,

I am not completely sure about your question Are the tickets one-way or round-trip?. I checked the route you would travel, including a return Tokyo - Puroland and return Ashi. Both routes have pretty low transportation costs.

Does this help?

Daniel-san:

Are there round-trip tickets? For example, when we go to Puroland from Narita airport, do we need to buy 1 ticket to go to Puroland and another ticket to take us back to Narita Airport? Or when we buy the ticket for Puroland from Narita Airport, it includes the ticket for our trip back to Narita Airport?

Hello Gale,

The usage of return tickets in Japan is rather uncommon, most of the time you just buy a ticket for point A -> B and buy an other ticket when you travel back from B-> A. In your itinerary It would probably be easiest just to buy a ticket to Puroland and one back.

Also when available, return tickets rarely give any discount and you may as well buy the tickets when you need them.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
