Can you recommend the type of pass and also how much?

Hi Christine,
For this itinerary you may want to look at using a JR Hokuriku Pass or just buy normal tickets as you travel.
The JR Pass itself would not help you make savings, because normal tickets do cost less than the price of a 7 day JR Pass.
