Must we buy a rail pass?

We are 2 adults and 2 children (12 et 9) and will travel between Kyoto, Hakone and Tokyo at the end of March this year.
The trains we must take are:
1. train to bring us from Osaka Kansai airport to Kyoto
2. train to bring us from Kyoto to Hakone
3. train to bring us from Hakone to Tokyo
4. train to bring us from Tokyo to Haneda airport? Or can we do that with a taxi?

Please let us know if we better book the trains beforehand and pay them all separately, or if we buy a rail pass and just travel?

Thank you!

Hi Sylvie,

For this route it would make more sense to simply buy normal tickets as you travel. A JR Pass works well if you make a return Tokyo - Kyoto or Osaka. In this itinerary you travel one way and it would be bes tto simply buy tickets as you go.

Tokyo is quite big and traveling to Haneda can still cost quite a bit by Taxi. My preference would still be public transport, although costs are not that high if you share a cap with 4.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
