Hi Erica,

There are actually 4 places around fuji by the name of 5th station. All are starting points for hiking but none are a train station. You'll have to use a bus or taxi to access them.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi Erica,

I would not go to any for just sightseeing, as they are basically starting areas to hike up to Fuji and most are just big parking spaces. Instead I recommend visiting Fuji Five Lakes or Hakone. Both area's are beautiful and offer a lot in terms of sightseeing.

For the recommended place does the JR line go there?

Hi again,

Part of the way is covered for both.

You can use the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara station using the JR Pass. Odawara is the base station for Hakone, from there however other (non JR) transport is required.

For Fuji Five Lakes, the JR Pass can be used for travel to Otsuki station, from there you'll have to use the Fujikyu line to Kawaguchiko (the first of the five lakes), which costs 1,140yen.
