Looking for some advice on the most cost effective way of getting around for the following itenerary. We were thinking about a 14 day JR pass and starting this when we leave Tokyo for Kyoto but not sure if this is the best way round as we would then have to pay for travel from the airport into Tokyo and for trips made in Tokyo.

  1. Narita airport - Tokyo
  2. Tokyo
  3. Tokyo
  4. Tokyo - Kyoto
  5. Kyoto
  6. Kyoto - Osaka - Kyoto
  7. Kyoto - Hiroshima
  8. Hiroshima - Kanazawa
  9. Kanazawa
  10. Kanazawa - Hakuba
  11. Hakuba
  12. Hakuba
  13. Hakuba
  14. Hakuba
  15. Hakuba - Haneba airport for midnight flight

Suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks.

Hello there,

I would also recommend getting a 14 day JR Pass and then buy a normal ticket to travel into Tokyo from Narita Airport.
This way you'll get the best savings and have all your travel covered.

If you have the time in Hakuba, then making a side trip to Matsumoto can be a nice idea. The JR Pass also covers travel there. (That is if you have get enough of the snow fun!).

Hope this helps,
Daniel
