Hi!
I will bein Japan next week with my husband, Sept 2-9. I bought a 7 day JR PASS. We are booked at an airport hotel KIX. We are looking forward to seeing Osaka, Tokyo, Nara, and Kyoto. After reading the numerous posts I regret not staying longer. Is there Another city I ought to see on this short trip. What onsen do you suggest. Because we will be in Tokyo for one day only what are the must see places I can cover.
Thank you for such an interesting and helpful forum that you have here.

Btw, since first and last day are committed to travel, we actually only have 6 days to do the tours.

Hi there!

Six days in Japan can feel a little short, still I feel like you already have a great plan for this period by visiting Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara. Still if you are able to sqeeze it in, consider a visit to Kinosaki-Onsen which is not too hard to reach from either Osaka/Kyoto. A visit to Kinosaki is best planned as a one nights stay but you can also visit it as a day trip.

Have a save journey!

I like to go to FUji mount would you recommend me to just swing by to see the mount from the train or go to the Mount.

Hi Henry!

You can see mount Fuji on a beautiful day from the Shinkansen (be sure to book an D or E seat) so you don't have to visit the area if your goal is ''just to see it''. That is not to say that the area around Fuji is not worth a visit, the oposide is actually true. There's a lot of nature around Fuji as well as great entertainment places. Think about the FujiQ highlands (theme park) or Gotemba (shopping) or make a visit to Hakone for Nature and some beautiful onsen.

Do note that visiting Fuji will pretty much eat up a full day so be sure to plan accordingly.

JR PASS is amazing! Been in Japan For 4 days and been using the JR PASS all over. From Osaka to Tokyo and everything else in between!!!

I regret though that I picked a hotel near KIX. I always have an hour's journey from KIX to ShinOsaka/Osaka/Kyoto before I get anywhere else. So readers, take note, stay near JR STATION in Osaka or shinOsaka.

I want to go to Kinosaki-onsen before Sunday. Need tonrelax. I'm so tired. Does it really take 3 hours from ShinOsaka? Oh my, with one hour from KIX, that's 4 hours. Just like my Tokyo trip. We had ton tay overnight!!! Is there a closer onsen to KIX?

Hi Henry and less is more,

Glad to hear that the JR Pass helped you travel so much! Kinosaki onsen really is a great place to visit and I would personally say not to be missed. However you could look into going to one of these onsen near Wakayama which are a lot closer.

Make the most of your trip!
Daniel
