Hi, myself and my husband just lost our JR passes while travelling in Japan. We ended up having to pay for a Shinkansen ticket - is there any way to claim this cost back? I still have the receipts for the passes. And we need to take another Shinkansen later this week - what should we do? Is there any way to get the pass reissued?

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear about the JR Pass. A JR Pass can not be re-issued, if lost or stolen. Contact JR Lost and Found if possible if you lost the JR Pass on the train or station.

Without the JR Pass, normal tickets are required to travel on. If you plan on travelling a more, consider looking at a discounted regional pass or travel package.

Sorry for the bad news,
Daniel
