Hi just wondering whether you can use your pass on the trains around Tokyo.
We will be in Japan for 12 days . The first 5 days are skiing in Hakuba, then I thought we would activate our jp pass on our return to Tokyo. We will do a trip to Takayama and the other travel will be day trips eg Disneyland etc. so I suppose my question is" because there is five of us will it be worth getting the jp pass if we do not leave and travel to the country so much, hence the query about the trains within the city.
Thank you

Hello there,
Yes the JR Pass is valid on all JR lines that run trough Tokyo.. This covers all important stations in Tokyo and also places such as Disneyland.
The JR Pass is also valid for travel from Hakuba to Tokyo and to Takayama. A return ticket Tokyo - Takayama alone is ¥ 29,420 while the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110. So only by visiting Takayama you'd be making savings.
Hope this helps!
Daniel
