Kyoto-Yamanashi-Fuji-oam Hakone-in Tokyo

Hello Daniel!

I’ll arrive Kansai a.p- March 22 . Have a14 days jr pass .
Stay 5 nights in Kyoto, wherefrom I visit
one day Nara and one day Hida go. (I understood from your answers I can use there jr trains).

  1. March27-30: stay near Yamanashi lake at Funatsu,Fujikawaguchiko
I’m not sure there is a jr train on this rout. Can you please help me find the easiest way?

  2. I like to visit one day Fuji mt. and Ashi lake, etc.
And the other day to see the open air museum, but I realized it impossible from that point.

  3. Maybe it’s better going to oam from Tokyo, where I’ll stay march30-April2,
or from Narita (my latest day before leaving from Narita a.p) ?

  4. Tokyo- I stay in Shinjuku. Can I use the Yamanote line to achieve the interesting sites?

Hello!

Let's get right into your question,

1.) Assuming that you are comming from Kyoto/Nagoya, take the Shinkansen to Mishima station, from here you can use an express bus to Kawaguchiko. The Bus ride takes about 90 minutes and is not covered by the JR Pass. Alternatively you could use the JR Pass for travel to Otsuki station

2.) Kawaguchiko is pretty close to Ashi and also offers a good view of Fuji but the open air museum is indeed a bit out of the way.

3.) Sorry I don't get this one.

4.) Certainly! The Yamanote line is great! Be sure to make note of the JR Chuo line as well, in some cases it is faster from Shinjuku, here's a map.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot!

3.) I ment: how to get to Hakone open air museum from Tokyo or from Narita by jrpass?

(I have a last full empty day in Narita).

Appreciate your kindly help,

Tai

Hi Tai,

Take the Bullet train to Odawara station, from there, take the Hakone Tozan Line to Chokoku-no-Mori Station. From there the museum is a 2-minute walk.

Note that the last part on the Hakone Tozan Line requires a separate ticket.

Hope this helps too!
