Hi
We are activating our 14 day JR pass tomorrow 7th April. Have booked Shibuya to Osaka and can manage Osaka to Kyoto ourselves. Would appreciate some help with the Kyoto to Kanazawa leg on 12th April and Takayama to Hakone (Odinawra) 16th April
From memory the Kanazawa to Takayama leg on the 13th April is by bus? Your help would be appreciated thanks

Hi there!

Kyoto - Kanazawa is a very easy route. You can use the Thunderbird Express train which departs directly from Kyoto - Kanazawa. Just ask the staff to reserve your tickets.

From Kanazawa to Takayama. You can use the train from Kanazawa to Takayama with the JR Pass, there's also a bus connection via Shirakawago but this not not covered by the JR Pass. Here is an example route by train. The route takes a little over 2 hours and involves 1 transfer.

From Takayama - Odawara, take the Hida limited express to Nagoya and from Nagoya station the Shinkansen to Odawara station. Here is an example route.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Thanks Daniel your continuing help is much appreciated. Not sure if you arranged the perfect view of Mt Fuji we had this morning from the Shinkansen Tokyo to Shin-Osaka but it sure was spectacular :)
