Hello!

I will be traveling in Japan for ten days at the end of June into the beginning of July. Here's the itinerary so far-

Day 1- Toyko (Arriving Narita- mid afternoon)
Day 2- Tokyo
Day 3- Tokyo
Day 4- Tokyo
Day 5- Tokyo
Day 6- ? (probably more Tokyo)
Day 7- Tsumago\Nagiso
Day 8- Tusmago\Nagiso
Day 9- Tsumago to Mt. Fuji
Day 10- Fuji to Tokyo (Departing Narita- late)

What do you think is the most cost-effective means of travel via rail for this trip?

Thank you!

Hi there,

Looking at your itinerary, I would go with normal tickets. Tsumago/Nagiso are not that far from Tokyo and you'd need to travel more (such as visiting Kyoto) in order for a JR Pass to be useful. You will travel between different regions (JR Central / JR East) so a local pass would not help.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
