hi, I will be travel to japan using 1 week jr pass, I want to go to kyoto and alpine route from shinjuku tokyo area. Is that possible to go through alpine route in 5 hours? So, I'm thinking to go from shinjuku- alpine route-kyoto or the backwards way... kyoto-alpine route-shinjuku. What is the best options and scenery view using jr pass for my route?

Hi there,
People actually do the Alpine route as a day trip from Tokyo. I think you can do it in 5-6 hours but it may just mean rushing every part. My personal preference is to stay near the route for the night and then travel it the following morning, so you have enough time to explore and take your time.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
