We are arriving in Haneda airport on Dec 29 and planning to activate my JR pass on that day. We will take shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto on January 1 and Kyoto-Hiroshima on January 2. We are trying to reserve seats online now since it's around holidays. We have a friend who can read Japanese to help making online reservation via eki-net. How do we go ahead making online seat reservation before activating JR pass?

Hi there,
You basically reserve the seat online and choose pick-up at the station/payment at the station, then show the JR Pass as the payment method when collecting the tickets. You will need to use a credit card as a guarantee for this.
Unfortunately, I do not have a full guide on how to do this.
