I'm traveling to Japan for 3 weeks in July. We are planning on staying in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara, but we are also planning on visiting outside sites like Nikko, Fuji, Kamakura, Jigokudani Monkey Park, Osaka, and Himeji. Would the JR Pass provide a savings if we wanted to visit all of these sites and could it get us to all these sites? Would you recommend a 21 day pass for a 3 week trip?

Thank you,
Cathy

Hello Carthy,

It is hard to say for sure without knowing the exact itinerary. The JR Pass could certainly be a big help when traveling around and it will cover by far the major part of your planned travel.

Please let me know your day by day itinerary, for example day 1-3 Tokyo day 3-6 Kyoto etc, this will help me find the best match to your itinerary. It could be that a 7 or 14 day JR Pass would also be sufficient to cover most of your travel.

Hope to hear from you,
Daniel
