Hi,

This August 2015 I and going to Japan for holidays and will spend 7 days in Tokyo and 6 days in Kyoto. I am planning to buy a JR pass in the day before going to Kyoto, and would like to do some stops during the trip to visit some twons/cities. Is it possible to leave the shinkansen, for instance, in Hamamatsu and visit the city and then get another shinkansen to Kyoto a couple of hours later?
Thank you in advance.
Best,
Mário

Hello there,

The JR Pass truly is an unlimited pass for it's validity period. You can use any train covered by the JR Pass as many times as you like!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
