Hi!

I'm going to Japan for 6 nights.

We're staying at Tokyo, and wanted to know if its recommended to buy the JR Pass for:

** Narita - Tokyo - Narita? Or is there any other cheaper transport to the city?

** Is it recommended for traveling inside Tokyo? Or is it cheaper and better the Metro?

**We want to go on a 1 day trip (there and back) to Kyoto to get a bit of the traditional Japan. Is the JR pass recommended for this kind of trip? or is it better to acquire it separately?

Thanks!!

Hi there,

I recommend purchasing a 7 day JR Pass if you plan on making a return Tokyo - Kyoto. This 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for that price. Additionally the JR Pass is valid from travel from Narita Airport to Tokyo and on the local JR Network in Tokyo, so you can make great savings all together.

The JR Pass is not valid on the metro or other non- Japan Rail transport.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
