Hello Daniel!

My girlfriend and I are travelling to Japan in August for two weeks. Could you please help us with the best option regarding the JR pass for our itinerary? The itinerary is the following one:

  • Tokyo 5 days with 2 trips to Kamakura and Nikko respectively.
  • Tokyo to Hakone.
  • Hakone - Kyoto. 2 days in Kyoto.
  • Kyoto to Miyajima.
  • Miyajima to Kyoto. 3 days in Kyoto with 2 trips -> Nara and Himeji.
  • Kyoto to Matsumoto. Trip from Matsumoto to Yamanouchi.
  • Matsumoto to Tokyo. 2 days in Tokyo.

Thank you for your help =)

Hi there,

I think the best option would be to use a 14 day JR Pass, you will be traveling a lot, especially near the end of your itinerary. Using a JR Pass here would give you very good savings compared to purchasing normal rail tickets.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
