Hi can you please provide best trains to choose to travel from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko then onto Kyoto? I am a bit confused about whether i need to travel back to Tokyo to catch the Hikari line? Which trains on this route is not covered by my JR pass? thank you

Kawaguchiko to Kyoto
Fujisan express (bus?), Ltd Exp Kaiji 107, JR Shinjuku, Hikari Shinkansen??

Hello there,
There are basically two options going from Kawaguchiko to Kyoto.
1.) Either travel back to Tokyo using the train and from there use the Hikari Shinkansen.
2.) Use an express bus from Kawaguchiko to Mishima station and get on the Hikari Shinkansen from there.
Option 1 is the most economic. However, the bus option (bus is not included in the JR Pass) can be faster if you have a good train connection at Mishima station. The bus timetable is here:
