questions & answers: using the japan rail pass

jr hokkaido: shortest routes

JR Hokkaido: Shortest routes

Grateful for advice:

[a] Shortest route for travel on JR lines, with the names of JR Lines stated that can take us from JR Chitose station [lake shakiest hot springs] to JR Furano station, and the URL link where I can find the actual timetable for travel on this shortest route on 6 June 2015.

[b] Same request as above: JR Asahikawa to JR Toya for travel on 9 June 2015.

Thank you very much!

Hello there,

You can use www.hyperdia.com to look up any time table you like.

For instance [here is Chitose to Furano]).

The data and time can be adjusted to your own liking at the bottom of the page. Same for Asahikawa - Toya, just will in the station names and set the time you wish to travel. Hyperdia will then find the best route.

Also see our how to plan with Hyperdia in order to learn all the details.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel

Just to bounce this off to you for your expert advice:

We will be travelling on the JR Hokkaido only on 4 days:

6 June - JR Chitose to JR Furano
9 June - JR Asahikawa to JR Toya
11 June - JR Toya to JR Hokodate
13 June - JR Hokodate to JR Sapporo.

Is the best deal for the above travel the Flexible 4-day pass?

Thank you very much, again, for your help.

Hi again,

This looks good, going to Hakodate is pretty pricey and using a JR Hokkaido pass will give you good savings. Asahikawa is a good trip as well. So it makes sense to get one.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
