Hello, I'm planing to go to Japanese Alps in May for about 12 days, arriving from Osaka by train. Is the're any pass that would be suitable for me considering that we must use the pass on consecutive days and that we will be many nights at the same place. Here is my itinerary: Kanazawa (from Osaka) (2 nights), Takayama ( 5 nights) Toyama (1 night) and Matsumoto (4 nights). We want to go to Kamickochi, Shirakawago and some places around.. The alpine route if I read well is not cover by the japan rail pass..
From Matsumoto we will be going to Tokyo for 5 days and then take our flight return to Canada. Would the best solution be day by day ticket.? Or do you have a best solution for me. Thank you so much.

Martine.

Hi Martine,

Looking at the route you'll travel, I would stick with buying normal tickets here. There's not really a pass that matches your itinerary and let's you stay for longer periods of time at the same place, without expiring.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
