Hello - we are 3 travellers arriving Tokyo 31/10 and leaving Tokyo 9/11. We want to travel to Kyoto on 1/11 and then Hiroshima 6/11 and then back to Tokyo 8/11. Toyko Narita will get a separate ticket but 8 days needed for Japan Pass.
1. Are you allowed days off when you do not use the train at Kyoto?
2. Is is cheaper to pay for the Tokyo to Kyoto and then buy 7 day pass OR use the pass Tokyo to Kyoto and then pay for Hiroshima to Tokyo return?

Thank you

Hello there,

1.) The JR Pass keeps counting on, even if you don't use it. However this is also included in the price. It is easy to make savings, even if you would use it for 2 out of the 7 days.

2.) The best way with your current plan would be to buy a one way Tokyo - Kyoto, then use a 7 day JR Pass for Kyoto Hiroshima and Hiroshima - Tokyo. I would also recommend a trying to fit this all into 7 days, as it saves a lot of money if you can cover it all using a 7 day JR Pass.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
