Japan Rail Pass, worth it?

I wonder whether or not I should get a Japan Rail pass for 2 weeks. I'm going to be in Tokyo for 2 weeks aswell.

I arrive at Narita airport, I will live in Shinjuku these two weeks.

During this trip i am planning on going to Kyoto and Disneyland and Mount Fuji, and a lot of other places, hopefully.

Is it worth it to buy a Japan rail pass for two weeks?

Thank you.

Hi there!

I think that it would certainly be worth to consider a 7 Day JR Pass this because it is the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto which the Shinkansen. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price! Basically all travel you do after is what you save and can amount to a lot if you plan to travel around.

You can for instance use it to travel on local JR lines in Tokyo, visit Disney Land or make a day trip to amazing places such as Nikko or Kamakura.

Have a great trip!

I see, thank you! I will consider everything you said :)

Also.. Could you please help me with these costs?

Narita airport - Shinjuku (return)
Shinjuku - Disney Land (return)
Shinjuku - Kyoto (return)
Shinjuku ~ Mt Fuji (return)
and Shinjuku - Nikko (rt)

Regards,

Josefin

Hi Josefin,

Sure, no problem!

Narita airport - Shinjuku ¥ 3,310
Shinjuku - Disney Land ¥ 380
Shinjuku - Kyoto ¥ 13,420
Shinjuku ~ Mt Fuji this depends on what area around Fuji you wish to visit ¥ 3,500 is a good indication.
and Shinjuku - Nikko ¥ 5,020 (using the Shinkansen).

Note that all prices are for one way, a return is simply double the price as return tickets generally are not discounted.

All prices are directly from Hyperdia which is a great resource to look up ticket prices and other route information such as travel time.

Hope this helps!

Super thank you! It definitely helps.

Then, say I would travel all these places, (plus some traveling around in Tokyo) would you still recommend the 7-days Rail pass, or the 14-days? Travel Costs: 51,260 yen if I counted right.

Thank you,
Josefin
