Hi

I would really be grateful for some help.
We are arriving into Kansai airport and staying in a hotel very close to Kobe Station.
From Kobe we are planning to visit the following places:
Nara
Osaka
Kyoto

We are then hoping to get the train to Tokyo and sightsee for 2 days, unfortunately we will need to come back to Osaka as our flight back in also from Kansai.

Can someone please tell me how much each of these journeys would cost me? would the JR Pass be the better choice?

Many thanks

Hi there,

I can certainly help with this

Kansai Airport - Kobe ¥ 3,310
Kobe - Nara (return) ¥ 2,760
Kobe - Osaka (return) ¥ 780
Kobe - Kyoto (return)¥ 2,100
Kobe - Tokyo ¥ 14,470
Tokyo - Kansai Airport ¥ 15,820

For a total of ¥ 39,240 or ¥ 10,940 in savings as the 7 day JR Pass is 28,300yen. So the JR Pass is certainly worth it.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Hi there!

There are cheaper alternatives available from Kansai Airport - Kobe. The price I mentioned is when you use the Haruka Express and JR Special rapid service. This is by far the most convenient way of travel to Kobe and quickest too. It is covered by the JR Pass too.

In Tokyo, I'd either stay near Ueno/Nippori or Shibuya/Shinjuku. Both are good area's to stay at. Ueno is a little more relaxed while you'll be able to be in the middle of the metropolis if you stay near Shinjuku.

April is actually the best part of the year to visit Japan, the temperatures are good, not a lot of rain and best of all the Sakura blossoms.

Hi Again,

As mentioned, In Tokyo, I'd either stay near Ueno/Nippori or Shibuya/Shinjuku. Both are good area's to stay at. Ueno is a little more relaxed while you'll be able to be in the middle of the metropolis if you stay near Shinjuku. It's pretty easy to find a nice accommodation using booking websites such as tripadviser.com

For travel Kobe - Tokyo, first travel to Shin-Kobe, from there you can use the Shinkansen to travel to Tokyo station.
