Is it worth getting the JR Pass?

We are staying in Tokyo for 4 nights.

(1) Narita Airport to Tokyo by train? Booked Metropolitan Hotel, Tokyo (2) By train from Tokyo to Kyoto? (3) By train from Kyoto to Tokyo? (4) Using metro in Tokyo for 2 days? (5) Last day - take train from Tokyo to Narita Airport.

Is it worth it to purchase the Green JR Pass for 7 days? Or should we get JR on arrival at Narita?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks,

Mrs. Dawson

Hi there,

Judging from your itinerary it may be well worth it to use a JR-Pass for your travel.
If I may ask, would you be planning to travel in Green Class, even without the Rail Pass?

I made a small inventory of ticket prices, please note that these are for Green class.

Narita Airport --> Tokyo ¥ 4,430
Tokyo --> Kyoto ¥ 17,860
Kyoto --> Tokyo ¥ 17,860
Tokyo --> Narita Airport ¥ 4,430

This comes down to a total of ¥ 44,380, the price of the [7 Day JR Green Pass] is ¥ 37,800, so savings would be at least ¥ 6,580. In addition you can use the JR-Pass on local trains in Tokyo.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
