I am travelling to Japan from 10th of May to 23rd May. Itinerary is as below,
Travel Narita Airport to Asakusa - Tokyo
1 night Asakusa - Tokyo
Travel Tokyo to Kamikochi
3 nights Kamikochi
Travel Kamikochi to Takayama
2 nights Takayama
Travel Takayama to Kyoto
4 nights Kyoto with day trips to Arashiyama and Kurama
Travel Kyoto to Tokyo
3 nights Shinjuku - Tokyo
Travel Tokyo to Narita and home
The 7 day pass does not work as our travel dates are not consecutive, however unsure if the 14 day pass would be worth it on price.
Is a jr rail pass the way to go for my trip
Hi,
A 14 day pass would not pay off for your itinerary, unless you increased your travels. Near Kyoto, going to see Himeji for a day would do it, not to mention that Nara is also a must-see place in the area. While in Tokyo, taking a day trip to Nikko is well worth it also.
PS
For some of your itinerary, you will still have to buy separate tickets for some travel, like on buses or non-JR rail lines from Matsumoto to Kamikochi, or from Kamikochi to Takayama.
Please look though:
