Hi there,
We will be spending 6 days in Sapporo, arriving on a Saturday and leaving to go to Hakodate on the Thursday, After 2 nights in Hakodate we wish to catch the bullet train to Tokyo on the Saturday. We will start using the pass on the Monday after we arrive in Sapporo to do some day trips, then train to Hakodate on the Thursday, then catching the bullet train to Tokyo on the Saturday. We have 3 nights in Tokyo and will buy a prepaid travel card for getting around there.
Am I right in thinking the 7 day pass will work for our travel, I've crunched the numbers and it's definitely worth getting. Our 12 year old will be very excited to catch the trains. Thanks for your response :)

Hi there,

I think you already answered your post :) Using a JR Pass here will work great. The JR Pass also covers the JR Network in Tokyo, which is generally enough to see most of the city.

The Hayabusa Shinkansen between Hakodate and Tokyo is the fastest Shinkansen is service. I am sure your 12 year old will love it!

Enjoy your trip!
Daniel

PS: for a little bit of pre-trip fun, do our Shinkansen quiz.
