Hi, So I will be arriving in Haneda airport terminal 1 around 3:30pm on July 23rd. I would be activating my JR Pass and plan to head straight to Kyoto, what route would I be taking to get there? Answer from years ago seem to tell me to go to Tokyo station first then switch, but I am unsure.

Hello there,

You are correct. First travel to Tokyo station. You can use the Tokyo Monorail using the JR Pass to Hamamatsucho, there transfer to the Yamanote line bound for Tokyo. Once at Tokyo station board the bullet trains (Shinkansen) to Kyoto. All together it takes about 4 hours.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

I heard that for the Shinkansen to kyoto it requires to reserve a spot when I arrive at the airport after getting my jr pass. Is that require?
