Hello. We are traveling from Haneda to Kyoto. 3 nights in Kyoto. Then to Hiroshima. 2 nights in Hiroshima, then 1 night miyajima, one more night in Hiroshima, and then to Hakone for 2 nights. Then back to Tokyo for 5 nights, then back to Hakone. I was thinking of buying a 7 day JR pass and activating it for the ride from Kyoto to Hiroshima. It would then be valid to get me to Miyajima, then to Odawara( I know I cannot use it for Hakone). And then form Odawara back to Tokyo. Does this make sense. I was planning on using Nozumi train TO Kyoto, and buying Suica card to get around Tokyo, Kyoto.... Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi there,
Have you booked your hotels yet? If not, then I would advise of cutting your stay in Hiroshima by one night and use a 7 day JR Pass for Tokyo - Kyoto - Hiroshima - Odawara. This would give you stellar savings and have nearly all your travel covered by the JR pass.
Otherwise I think your best option would be to look at a 14 day JR Pass. The price difference between a one way ticket Tokyo - Kyoto on the Nozomi and the upgrade to a 14 day JR Pass is only around 3,000yen. You can then also use the JR pass for local travel in Tokyo and to Narita Airport, making sure you get that amount back in savings.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
