Our itinerary is as follows:
1) : arrive Osaka
stay at Kyoto (3 nights)

2).travel to Nagoya /stay 1 night
3) travel to tokyo / stay 6 nights
4) Travel to Osaka/ stay 2 nights

I am taking 14 days JR pass. Our idea is to visit tourist spots as many as possible. also want to visit the rural area. Could you kindly advise how to travel with the pass. what routes we can take.

Hi there,

Almost all JR Lines throughout Japan are covered. This means that you literally have hundreds of options available, I would suggest taking a look at this interactive map that get an idea of what is possible.

From what I see from your plans is that you made a pretty save bet by going to all major cities in Japan, I would say spend a night or two less in Tokyo (6 is quite a bit) and make the most of your JRPass making a visit to Takayama for instance. Which is a lovely mountain village and would also fit in nicely as a stop between Nagoya - Tokyo.

For the rest, let me know if you have any special interests and I get give you some more specific recommendations.

All the best!
Daniel

Thanks a lot. Now after reaching Kansai airport, how to catch the train to kyoto. which gate we have to come out, and which bus No/ train station we have to move further. how far it is from the airport. we are having luggage of 35 kg each with us. can we walk down to the station. if the proper directions are given it would be useful.

after reaching kyoto station, how to reach the hotel. we are staying at Oike-Agaru, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto.

also give some idea as how we can spend three days at kyoto and around using the JR pass.

Hi Again,

You can take the Haruka limited express train directly from Kansai Airport to Kyoto, which is a great way to travel there.
This will take about 80 minutes but you can take the train directly from the Airport. Kansai Airport is not very big, so it is easy to find the train, just follow the signs with Raiways.

Once in Kyoto take the subway from Kyoto station to Karasume-Oike from there you can walk to your hotel in about 5 minutes. An other option is to take a taxi from the station to your hotel, which I would do with 70k of luggage :) I would estimate the taxi fare around 1,500 yen but this depends on a lot of factors.

With the JR Pass in Kyoto I would recommend a visit to Fushimi Inari and Nara for sure. Both are completely covered with the JR Pass and make for great day trips.

I hope this helps,
Daniel
