My family and i will be traveling and visting Tokyo for 7 days from Dec 28- january 5 2015. Is buying a Rail pass will still be a practical buy even if we will be mostly in Tokyo? We plan of visiting Kyoto and Osaka since the pass covers it. Also, is a 3 year old child needed a pass also or is she free of charge?

Thank you and regards

Hello there,

A 7 day JR Pass could certainly be helpful if you make a return trip Tokyo - Kyoto. The 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket. With the 7 day JR Pass you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.

Children below the age of 6 travel for free, some limitation apply see:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
