Easiest way to get from Kyoto Station to Kiyomizu Gojo Station with luggage

Hello!

Since we have luggage, we are hesitant to take the local bus 205 (enter at the rear, then pay and exit at the front). We do not want to take a taxi and prefer not to walk with luggage. Our final destination is Hotel Sunroute Kyoto and we have the JR Pass. What is the easiest way to get there via public transportation? Thanks for your reply.

Hi there,

I am somewhat tempted to say, take a taxi for this one. There's no direct connection from Kyoto station using to Kiyamizu Gojo station.

It's not that far and I would estimate the fare between 1,200 and 1,600yen. Split this among your travel party and it's not that expensive compared to the bus.

Hi, Daniel-san:

Thanks for the speedy reply. There are only two of us and I think the bus fare is only 460yen total ($5USD). The taxi fare looks like approx. $15USD. Do you agree that the bus may be a hassle with luggage, on a Saturday afternoon?

Hi Again,

I guess it comes down to comfort vs budget. It's only you who can answer that :)

Buses in Kyoto are pretty busy and you might have to stand the 15-20min in the bus to get to your hotel.

Also you won't have to worry about finding your hotel when you arrive by taxi. Which is nice when you are packed.

Either way when I 1st traveled to Japan I might just have taken the bus - now I'd go for the taxi.
