Hi there,

Yes getting a JR Pass here will help you save BIG.

Just have a look at normal ticket prices:

Narita Airport - Kyoto ¥ 13,600
Kyoto - Hiroshima ¥ 11,670
Hiroshima -Tokyo ¥ 18,560

For a total of ¥ 43,830 or ¥ 14,720 in savings, as the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel!

Which train are you talking about?
Will be a better trip if we choose not buying a 7 days pass?

Looking at www.hyperdia.com, I found it:

Narita airport - Kyoto Y 16,690 ( Shinkansen Nozomi) about 210 minutes

Kyoto- Nara Y 710 ( JR Line Rapid Service for Nara)

Nara - Hiroshima Y 11,950 ( From Kyoto Shinkansen Nozomi) about 164 minutes

Hiroshima - Tokyo Y 19,080 ( Shinkansen Nozomi ) about 244 minutes

What can you say about it?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Daniel!

it is almost time to my trip to Japan!

Please help me with these questions:

From Hiroshima to Tokyo using JRP do I have to change trains?
How long will be the trip?
My luggage, suitcase, goes with me or separated?
Shinkansen Nozomi is not alowed with JRPass, right? How long will be the trip using Nozomi ? It is non stop?
If I buy tickets without marked seats, may I take any train? I mean at any time? Or do I have to decide my schedule?
I don't want to travel at an wagon that is possible to smoke. To make sure of it do I have to buy marked seats?

Please help me! I have to decide it soon!!

Tanks a lot!

Hi again!

From Hiroshima to Tokyo using JRP do I have to change trains? Yes, there is one transfer at Shin-Osaka station. The route takes about 6 hours all together.

My luggage, suitcase, goes with me or separated? You can take it with you on the train.

Shinkansen Nozomi is not alowed with JRPass, right? How long will be the trip using Nozomi ? It is non stop? It would be about 1 hour less using the Nozomi from Hiroshima to Tokyo.

If I buy tickets without marked seats, may I take any train? I mean at any time? Or do I have to decide my schedule? You can always take a non reserved seat. Reserved seats do have a specific time/date

I don't want to travel at an wagon that is possible to smoke. To make sure of it do I have to buy marked seats? All rooms are non smoking these days.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi! I am so glad with your help!

Well, I saw a ticket by plane. It will cost about 13000 yens. It will take 1h:20 minutes from Hiroshima to Tokyo. I think it will be better because I can stay longer at Hiroshima and get early at night at Tokyo.

I pretend to buy all my tickets when I arrive at Narita airport on the 12 of April. 12/04/16 Narita X Kyoto Shinkansen 15/04/ 16 Kyoto x Nara local train at afternoon... !5/04?16 Nara x Hiroshima with a transfer at Kyoto

I think that it is better than to buy a JRP. As I can't use the JRP on the subway there is no use to buy it.
I can use it to go to Miyajima but I will spend more money than I need. In Tokyo do you think will be better use a taxi? We are 4 people. It is nicer that subway!

From Haneda airport to Tokyo city center how will be the best way?

By the way … it is wonderful that all rooms are non smoking these days!!!!

Thanks for all your help !

Now that I only need tickets from Tokyo to Kyoto , Kyoto x Nara x Kyoto , Kyoto to Hiroshima , do still think that I should by a JR pass?

Hi Rosa,

Sorry, I am not sure how I missed this before.
With Tokyo to Kyoto , Kyoto x Nara x Kyoto , Kyoto to Hiroshima it would be better to buy normal tickets but the difference with the cost of a 7 day JR Pass is very small and adding one more Shinkansen trip would make a JR Pass worth considering.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

       Hi Daniel!

I just called an agency here in São Paulo, Brasil, and asked about it.

The lady told me that my cost with JR Pass for 2 people will be R$ 2.386,52 it is about 600 Euro !!!

Could you please write down for me how and what I have to do to go from Narita to Tokyo ? Since as I go out of immigration?

Now that I decided not to buy the JR pass do you think I will have a hard time to buy tickets at the station? With marked seats?

Sorry , I am very insecure now because I am afraid not be able to communicate properly.

               Thanks a lot !

Hi Rose,

You can take the Narita Express directly from Narita Airport to Tokyo station, the route takes about 60min and there is a train service every 30min during the day.

Buying normal tickets is easy, I don't think it would be any different than from your home country. Also, JR Staff can always help you if something is not clear.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
