Which is cheaper - online or buy from travel agent locally and the percentage cheaper.

In march I will be travelling from Nagoya to Fukuyama, Mimasaka,Okayama, Takamatsu and back to Nagoya. Please advise the correct JR. pass to buy and how much is the pass.

Is it cheaper to buy point to point pass in Japan travelling to each city.

I will be in Japan for 14 days. You do not sell 14days pass so how? Any suggestion.

Hello there,

The base price of the JR Pass is the same everywhere. However you can find difference in price due to the exchanged rate used and shipping costs. Some agencies also charge an additional booking fee,

We check the exchange rate daily and offer the best rate possible, without additional fees. Therefor you'll find that we have some of the best prices available. Shipping is free to many countries, some countries do have shipping costs but this is only charged once per order (no matter how many passes ordered).

A 7 day JR Pass could be useful for your itinerary, depending on how much travel you'd cover with it but you'll most likely stay below the price of a 14 day JR Pass and it may be better to buy normal tickets as you go. I can give you a better answer if you tell me how many days you wish to spend in each place.

You can place an order online here if you wish.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

dear daniel, thank you.
the following is my itinerary
march 23 to 27 Nagoya. day trip to kanazawa
march 27 to april 1 Fukuyama
april 1 to april 3 Yunogo Onsen, Mimasaki
april 3 to april 5 okayama
april 5 to april 8 takamatsu
april 8 to april 9 nagoya

when you say JR pass, do you mean All Japan Pass? or JR West or etc?
If I buy online will there be a shipping charge?
when you say "better to buy normal tickets as you go" do you mean buy point to point ticket from one city to another? and these tickets can be purchased in Japan? However, if the difference between a 14 day pass and point to point added up tickets costs are marginal, then I would go for the 14 day pass. Can I go to these cities if I buy 14 days JR west pass?

Hello James,

I do mean the nation wide Japan Pass and yes tickets as you go are one way tickets that can be purchased at the station.

The nationwide JR Pass is the only pass which covers the entire area that you wish to travel on.

I made a little list of normal ticket prices, to see if a JR Pass would be useful.

Nagoya - Kanazawa (return) ¥ 16,040
Nagoya- Fukayama ¥ 12,080
Fukayama - Okayama (from there non-JR bus to Yunogo Onsen) ¥ 3,220
Okayama - Takamatsu ¥ 3,210
Takayama - Nagoya ¥ 12,340

For a total of ¥ 46,890 the 14 day JR Pass is 46,390 so you save a about the price of a good coffee (which is still nice!). An alternative is to use a 7 day JR Pass for Nagoya - Kanazawa - Fukayama - Okayama and buy normal tickets from there. This would give you around 6,000yen in savings.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
