Hi dear!

My boyfriend and me will travel to Japan next 24th September. We have 2 doubts:

  1. To go to Shinjuku (Tokyo) to Kawaguchiko using Japan Rail Pass

  2. To go to Kawaguchiko from Kyoto using Japan Rail Pass

I'm reading several posts and I'm a little out of my mind...too much information!! hehe

I'm looking forward to hearing from you and THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND COLLABORATION.

Hi there,

The JR Pass does not cover the full route from Shinjuku - Kawaguchiko, however a significant part is included.

From Shinjuku take the ltd. Express Kaiji service to Otsuki station. From there you can to transfer to the Fujikyu railway to Kawaguchiko. This costs ¥1,140 and is not covered by the JR Pass.

From Kawaguchiko - Kyoto using the JR Pass. I recommend returning to Otsuki station from Kawaguchiko (¥1,140). From there use local trains to Tokyo or Shin-Yokohama stations. From there you can use the Hikari Shinkansen to Kyoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
