Hello,

Thank you for allowing me to ask some questions about the JR Pass.

I would like to know what is the best option for me considering my itinerary. I will be traveling with my fiancé and then picking up my mother from the airport after snowboarding in Hakuba. Three of us will be traveling.

Land Tokyo

  • Tokyo (Narita Airport) >>> Hakuba (Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture) Dates : 01/02/2016 - 08/02/2016

I will not be leaving the Hakuba and the snow for the 7 days.

  • Hakuba (Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture) >>> Tokyo (Narita Airport) >>> Tokyo City Dates : 08/02/2016 - 10/02/2016

  • Tokyo City >>> Hakone (Japan's Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park) Date : 10/02/2016 - 12/02/2016

  • Hakone (Japan's Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park) >>> Kyoto Date : 12/02/2016 - 15/02/2016

  • Kyoto >>> Osaka Date : 15/02/2016 - 17/02/2016

Thank for for the help :)

Hi there,

For this itinerary I recommend purchasing normal tickets. You will spend most of your time in Hakuba. So for your trip to Hakuba, just buy normal tickets.

For a Hakone, A Hakone Free Pass can be useful.

Then after, will you return to Tokyo after Osaka or fly out of Osaka/Kansai? A 7 day JR Pass can be very useful if you return to Tokyo, if not, just buy normal tickets.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel-San,

Thanks for the reply.

I will be flying out of Osaka back to Australia.

I will just get the normal tickets :) and I will look in to the Hakone Free Pass.

Thanks Dan you have been brilliant.

Hi Daniel,

I was wondering would it be worth me buying the 7 day JR Pass and activate I return back to Tokyo 08/02/2016?

Use this pass while in Tokyo and til I get to Osaka? Tokyo >>> Hakone >>> Kyoto >>> Osaka

I will use the Hakone Free Pass as it's not a JR line in Hakone.

Or is it still better to use single tickets?

Hi again!

I hope I get your question right, let me know if I didn't! A 7 day JR Pass would be worth it if used for a return Tokyo - Osaka, for a one way Tokyo >>> Hakone >>> Kyoto >>> Osaka I do suggest buying normal tickets and possible a Hakone Free Pass.

Yep that's correct.

For getting around Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka through the day to see sights can you get a daily pass?
