Advice on whether individual tickets are better

Hello,

My sister and I are planning a ski and sightseeing trip to Japan next year.

We would fly into Osaka, and then travel to stay in Kyoto for 3 nights. Basing ourselves centrally so we can explore Kyoto's sights. We would then travel by to Nagano and on to Nozawa Onsen for 7 days of skiing. After that we would travel to Tokyo for 3 nights and fly home from Narita airport.

Our only expected train travel may be between the airports and city destinations, and then from Kyoto to Nagano and Nagano to Tokyo.

Is it better to buy a rail pass or individual tickets for each train trip.

Thanks

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

For this route it would be more economic to buy tickets as you travel. You can find an approximate cost in our Fare Calculator.

If you use Hyperdia to look up Nozawa Onsen - search for Togari-Nozawa-Onsen, there is an other Nozawa out there but there a different place.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
