Hi

We are planning to travel to Japan on 13/04/2016 for 9 days, we will be arriving on 13/04 at 8.25am at Kansai Airport. We would like to travel around Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and Mt Fuji at Tokyo. We will return via Kansai airport on 21/04/16 at 11am.

Could you please suggest which pass I should use for?

Look forward to your prompt reply.

Thank you

Regards
Daphne

Hi Daphne,

I would suggest using a 7 day JR Pass and use it to at least cover the trip to Tokyo and back to Osaka. This will pretty much pay for the JR Pass and you can make nice savings for additional travel, such as a day trip to Nara, Kobe or a one way to Kansai Airport.

If you are looking to visit Fuji, have a look at this page. It will give you an idea of the possibilities and access options.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel

Thanks for you information.

We try to work out the itinerary according to our plans. Maybe you can give us some ideas how to do it? FYI, this is 1st time we travel to Japan. Also, are we able to see sakura during our travel period?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Daphne

Hi Daphne,

That looks like a solid itinerary. Many nice cities but not too much travel all together. Himeji is a nice include because of the castle.

A couple of other places you could consider adding are Hikone and maybe even Kinosaki-Onsen.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel

Thanks for your information.

I would like to reconfirm with you whether we can follow the itinerary as follow:-

Osaka – Kyoto – Hakone - Nara – Himeji – Kobe – Osaka

Please advise how to work on the JR pass? Do we still need to take 7 days pass? How to go to Hakone from Kyoto?

Look forward to receive your reply.

Thank you

Hello Daphne,

The 7 day JR Pass still works wonders here, there's plenty of travel by visiting Hakone and Himeji and you can use the bullet train between all these cities. The bullet train station for Hakone is Odawara and trains depart directly from there to Kyoto.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
