Heiya!

We'd be visiting Japan this August and We'd really appreciate it if you could take a look at our itinerary to help us decide whether we should buy 7-day or 14-day JR Passes. If we only need 7-day JR Passes, should we buy the Suica or the Pasmo Card?

Day 1: Narita International Airport (Hotel is near to Kiba/Etchujima Station)
Day 2: Tokyo & Kyoto
Day 3: Kyoto
Day 4: Kyoto
Day 5: Osaka Day Trip
Day 6: Nara Day Trip
Day 7: Kyoto
Day 8: Kyoto
Day 9: Kyoto & Tokyo
Day 10: Tokyo (Hotel is near Shinjuku Station)
Day 11: Tokyo
Day 12: Tokyo (Fujigoko)
Day 13: Tokyo
Day 14: Shinjuku Station - Haneda Airport

Thank you so much in advance!!

Hi there,

Looking at your itinerary, it is quite hard to match a JR Pass to it. As it is now, I would buy normal tickets.

A 7 day JR Pass could be great if you can at least manage the return Tokyo - Kyoto with it. Now this is 8 days apart. At the same time, there is not enough travel cost here to make savings using a 14 day JR Pass. You could consider traveling to Kyoto on day 3 and use a JR Pass from there.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hei Daniel-san!

Thank you so much for your help. We'll activate our JR Pass on the third day. To get around Tokyo conveniently, should we supplement our JR Pass with Tokunai Pass or Toei + Tokyo Metro One-Day Economy Pass? or is there any better alternatives? We were thinking of getting Suica Card but it doesn't have a daily cap like London Oyster Card.

Many thanks!

Yumi
