Me & my gf are going to visit Japan 20may for 14days. Our itinerary plan from Tokyo-hakone-nagoya-Nara-Osaka-Kobe-himeji-miyajima-Kyoto-Tokyo. We still not sure about how many days to spend and the type of jr pass we gonna buy. Is it ideal to use Hakone free pass then activate the jr pass at odawara station if we buy 7days pass? 14days trip is it ideal to include place like Japan alphine route in Toyama or Hokkaido? If yes, where u think I should slot in for my itinerary? Cuz I can't accurately calculate the time spend for travelling from a distance to another and whether I need to spend a night a certain places. Please kindly assist

Hi there,
You will be traveling quite a bit already, so much so that a 14 day JR Pass would already help you make savings.
Still a 7 day JR Pass would be fine if you can cover Hakone - Nagoya ... Tokyo with it.
A Hakone free pass is also recommended for Hakone.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
