Hi there,

I put my trip together for July and I would like an opinion :
Day 1 - Narita - Shinjuku
Day 2 - Tokyo
Day 3 - Tokyo - Nikko - Tokyo
Day 4 - Tokyo - Matsumoto
Day 5 - Matsumoto - Kamikochi - Matsumoto
Day 6 - Matsumoto - Kanazawa
Day 7 - Kanazawa
Day 8 - Kanazawa - Kyoto
Day 9 - Kyoto
Day 10 -Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto
Day 11- Kyoto - Tokyo
Day 12- Shinjuku - Narita

Is not a lot of options to get 7 day pass and I am thinking is it worth to get 14 day pass and travel hassle free or get 7 day pass and try to find cheap options for the rest of the trip? Would like to know experts opinion, because I am struggling to get the best prices for the single trips. Also whats the best way to travel between Matsumoto to Kanazawa with JR pass?
Thanks alot

Hello there,

I checked your itinerary to see if a 14 day JR Pass would make sense and there's more than enough travel in here for a 14 day JR pass to pay off. The JR Pass will also cover nearly all your travel making it easy to travel around. The only part I could find that is not covered is the bus from Matsumoto to Kamikochi.

The best way is to take a limit express train from Matsumoto to Nagano station and from there the Shinkansen to Kanazawa. See route 3.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
