Hi,

I will be visiting Japan in October.

Flying into Narita and staying in Tokyo for six days with day trips to Nikko , Kamakura and Yokohama.

Then planning to travel down to Kyoto for four days with a trip to Nara.

From Kyoto back to Fuji five lakes area for a day or two and then back to Tokyo for a couple of days.

Would it be worth getting a JR 14 day pass for this itinerary?

Many thanks.

Hi,
As is, unfortunately no. But you don't need to get a 14 day pass for your plans. Simply use it for the long distance travel and do it all within a week. You can fit in the trip to Nikko, plus going to Kyoto/Nara and back within 7 days. If you want to increase your savings, take at least half a day and go see Himeji Castle and the Kokoen Garden near Kyoto - it is Japan's finest castle, and you can get there quickly on the bullet train. For the Fuji Five Lakes Area, look into getting a Fuji Hakone Pass. There are other regional passes you can get to see Kamakura/Enoshima, and Yokohama.

Best of luck.
