Hi I would like to ask advise which passes are more worth it to use when it comes to budget.
My itinerary looks like this:

I like to use jr west kansai area pass but not sure if 14 day jr psd is more worth it for my whole trip? Or shall I use icoca card for first 4 days instead and jr nationwide pass in the next 7days??

Day 1 August 21 arrive 8pm
Kansas natl airport limousine bus to Kyoto

Buy jr west kansai area pass (Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe ) 4 days
(jr west Lan pass d1)

Day 2 : August 22 Kobe (jr west kan pass d2)

Day 3 : August 23 Kyoto (jr west kan pass d3)

Day 4 : August 24 Kyoto (jr west kan pass d4)

Use jr nationwide wide pass from here on:

Day 5 : August 25 Nara (jr nationwide d1)

Day 6 : August 26 Hakone (jr nationwide d2)

Day 7 : August 27 Hakone (jr nationwide d3)

Day 8: August 28 Tokyo (jr nationwide d4)

Day 9: August 29 Tokyo (jr nationwide d5)

Day 10 : August 30- osaka (jr nationwide d6)

Day 11 : August 31 - Osaka (jr nationwide d7)

Depart night kansai international airport

Thanks in advance for help!:)

Hi there,

I do think the best option would be to use a 7 day JR Pass for the last 7 days of your travels. This will help you make nice savings and cover most of your travel, do keep in mind that you may require additional local travel.

For instance in Hakone a Hakone Free Pass can be a good companion to your JR Pass.

For the first couple of days, I would stick here to buying normal tickets or use an ICOCA card as travel within Kansai is not very pricey.

Hope you find this useful :)
Daniel
