questions & answers: using the japan rail pass

10 days - alternatives

10 days - alternatives

Hello,

I will be travelling with my wife for 10 days to japan:
We will arrive to Tokyo (Haneda)and we planned to stay the initial 3 days in Kyoto and following 7 days in Tokyo

What would you recommend us as the most economic approach?

Buy a simple train ticket from Tokyo (Haneda) and start using the JP rail pass(7 days ) in the last 7 days ?

Or can buy a 7 days JPpass and we use the JR Pass in Radom days ? Example day 1… and later in days 4;5;6;7;8;9

Any other sugestions ?

How much time do the Japn R pass take from the order to be delivered is Portugal ?

Many thanks in advance

Hi there,

The 7 day JR Pass can be a very good option if you use it to travel to Kyoto. The pass itself is almost the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto, so any other travel covered with it is where you can make savings.

I would recommend using it for the first 7 days, this way you can make the best possible savings. I would also recommend making a day trip or two with the JR Pass. This way you both make the best of your pass and trip to Japan. For instance it is easy to visit Nikko or Kamakura from Tokyo. Or Osaka and Nara from Kyoto.

The pass is valid for 7 days in a row (consecutive usage).

Hope you find this useful!
