Hi there,
My friend and I will be travelling to Japan, flying in and out of Narita.
We are thinking of doing the following. Can you advise if this is a good way to do things, or if we should change the order?

Day 1 Arrive Narita, use N'Ex and Suica to get to Tokyo and around. Begin to explore Tokyo.
Day 2 Explore Tokyo
Day 3 Explore Tokyo (maybe side trip to Mt Fuji?)
Day 4 Activate JR Pass - Train to Kyoto explore Kyoto
Day 5 explore Kyoto
Day 6 train to Hiroshima
Day 7 train to Onomichi, hire bikes and cycle the Shimanami Kaido, stay at a Ryokan on the islands
Day 8 arrive Imabari, train back to Tokyo
Day 9 explore tokyo
Day 10 explore tokyo, train back to Narita, fly out

We are very keen to cycle the Shimanami Kaido, but apart from that we are open to suggestions for how we spend our time. Please let us know what you think, or if we should be doing these things in a different order.
Thanks you,
Melinda

Hello Malinda,

You've planned your itinerary very well, the order is exactly how I would do it as well. Reading about your plans to cycling around Shimanami Kaido, it came to my find to cycling around Kyoto is very nice too. It's very easy to rent a bicycle in Kyoto and it's actually the best way to explore the city.

When you are in Hiroshima, consider adding a side trip to Miyajima not to be missed on any trip to Japan.

For the rest, it all looks great!
Daniel
