We are travelling to Japan on the 12th july for 11 days and I was wondering which pass would best suit us with this itinerary and which is better to get to Tokyo, flying or the train?

Day 3 : Osaka 14th
Day 4 : Nagoya Sumo Tournament on the 15th july
Day 5 : Nara 16th
Day 6 : Kyoto Gion Festival on the 17th july
Day 7 : best way to get to Tokyo? 18th
Day 8 : Disney sea 19th
Day 9 : yokohama 20th
Day 10 : 21st
Day 11 : Narita airport 22nd

Hi there,

Let's have a look at this prices and see if a JR Pass would be worth considering.

Osaka - Nagoya ¥ 6,150
Nagoya - Osaka ¥ 6,150
Osaka - Nara (return) ¥ 1,600
Osaka - Kyoto (return) ¥ 1,120
Osaka - Tokyo (with the Superfast bullet train) ¥ 13,940
Tokyo - Disney sea (return) ¥ 440
Tokyo - Yokohama (return) ¥ 940
Tokyo - Narita Airport ¥ 2,820

For a total of ¥ 33,160 or ¥ 4,050 in savings as the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110.

As for how to travel between Osaka - Tokyo, definitely use the Shinkansen, also known as the Bullet train. These are the most amazing trains in the world traveling over 300km/h while passing the majestic view of Mount Fuji. The Shinkansen are completely covered by the JR Pass. Also they don't involve any of the conveniences of flying, just go to the station, show your JR Pass and hop on the train!

Hope this helps!
Daniel
