We are arriving in Tokyo (Narita Airport) on October 25th and leaving for Kyoto on October 29th.

Here is our itinerary:

Arrive in Tokyo October 25th check out on October 29th to travel to Kyoto (We will be going to Disneyland while in Tokyo).

Arrive in Kyoto October 29th - check out on Nov 1st to travel to Osaka

Arrive in Osaka Nov 1st to check out on Nov 4th to travel to Narita (While in Osaka we will go to Kobe, Nara, Hiroshima and Miyajama Island).

Do we need a 14 day pass or can we get away with he 7 day pass and just buy the metro tickets while in Tokyo. Start the 7 day pass when we travel to Kyoto.

Our fly back home is on November 5th in Narita Airport and we wll be staying in Narita area so we can just buy our train ticket to get to Narita airport.

Thanks,

MNC

Hello MNC,

A 7 day JR Pass would be the way to go there! You can use it to cover all Shinkansen travel, which without the JR Pass can be really pricey. I would advise buying normal tickets while in Tokyo for the metro and other transport, as it is all local (and this low price).

For your arrival, consider the 1,500yen Narita Express ticket. It's a very nice way to start your trip in Japan.

Hope this helps!

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the info it is very helpful.

As per my previous email, while in Tokyo we plan to go to Mt Fuji on our last day which is October 28th, which means we will need to use our JR pass. If we buy the 7 day pass we will be short a day, Is it cheaper to buy a normal ticket from Osaka to Narita on November 4th. We fly home on November 5th mid-day and our hotel is in Narita.

Thanks,

MNC

Hi MNC,

Travel to Fuji does not have to be expansive and I actually think that the best way to get there is to use an express bus from Tokyo, which is cheaper and faster. So you could staret using your JR Pass on the 29th :)

Osaka - Narita Airport is a very expensive route (about 18,000yen) so it's best to use the JR Pass for it.

Hope this helps too!
