Hi there!!
I will be travelling to Japan from April 16 to May 11. I have just bought the Japan Rail Pass and I am about to make reservations for all the hostels but I am really worried about the availability of trains during Golden Week... I think it is too risky to wait until I arrive to Tokyo to make all hostel reservations for the trip but I am worried about reserving everything and then have to change it all once in Tokyo.
I would like to be in Kyoto (coming from Kanazawa) since April 28. During Golden Week I would like to visit Nara (May 1 from Kyoto), Osaka (May 3, 4), Mount Koya (for the day from Osaka, May 4) and then go to Himeji (May 5, stay there) and Hiroshima-Miyajima (May 6 & 7, stay there). Then I continue my trip further south. Do you think this is possible or is it just too optimistic? My plan is to travel everyday as early as possible (no problem with doing 5am). I can change my itinerary but I do not want to stay in the same city during all Golden Week.
Also, is it reasonable to expect normal availability of trains the week before and after Golden Week or is it crazy as well?
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Best regards,
Lisandro
