Travelling around New Year

Hi there

I'm planning to travel from Nagano to Kanazawa on December 29, Kanazawa to Kyoto on December 31, and Kyoto to Tokyo on January 2, before my flight home on January 3.
I've just been reading about how busy train travel is around the new year holidays. I won't be able to reserve seats until I arrive in Japan on December 17 - do you think I need to change my itinerary, or will I still be able to reserve seats then?

Thank you

Adam

Hi Adam,

It will be fine getting your tickets on the 17th or even a bit later. Around the new year period, it is recommend to buy tickets 2-4 days in advance. No need to change your travel plan, just don't wait too long when you arrive in Japan.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
