I intend to travel from Nagiso to Takayama and I have used to the HYPERDIA website to plan my travel. One of the options given by the website involves two transfers, and according to the arrival and departure of the connecting trains, it allows just 6 min for the first transfer at Nakatsugawa and 8 min for the second at Nagoya. Are those short periods of time sufficient to change trains?
Many thanks
J
Time allowance to transfer between trains
Hello there,
Those times should give you enough time to make the transfers without having to run. Nakatsugawa is a very small station so there is no way you can get lost. Nagoya is larger, so I recommend looking up the departure platforms before arriving at Nagoya for a smooth transfer.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Daniel,
Thank you for you quick and clear response. With regards to your suggestion of looking up at the departure platforms I note that the HYRPEDIA website shows already the arrival and departure platforms at Nagoya train station on the date of travel (that is in over a month time). In fact the platform information is given for most train connections at other stations as well. I find it strange that the precise platform numbers could be known so far in advance of the actual date of travel. Should I rely on this type of information or is better to check on the day of travel?
Many thanks
J
Hi again,
The Japanese train system is very precise and you can trust Hyperdia. However be sure to check on the day of departure as well, it never hurts to do a double check.
Hope this helps too,
Daniel
