Should I get a JR Pass and if so, should I get a 1 week pass or 2 week? I am wondering if I can save money to just get a 7 day pass combined with buying 3 day passes.

Here is my iten

Day 1 Arrive in NRT - TOKYO

Day 2 - TOKYO

Day 3 - Tokyo to Kanazawa by Shinkansen. Overnight Kanazawa

Day 4 -Take Nohi Bus bound for Shirakawago. Take bus to Takayama. Overnight in Takayama

Day 5 KYOTO

Day 6 KYOTO

Day 7 Side trip to Nara

Day 8 KYOTO

Day 9 Side Trip to Osaka

Day 10 Hirshoima. Overnight in miyajima

Day 11 Himeji castle in the morning and head to Tokyo. Overnight tokyo

Day 12 - Tokyo

Day 13 Tokyo

Day 14 - Fly out from Tokyo

Hi there,

I would get a 14 day JR Pass here. You'll be covering a lot of miles (or KM if that's your thing) and a JR Pass will be a big help here. Travel to Kanazawa, Kyoto and Hiroshima are all expansive trips without a JR Pass and there's not really a good way to match a 7 day JR Pass to this trip.

Note that the Nohi bus is not included in the JR Pass.
